Frequently Asked Questions

Are you a medical doctor?

No, I am a Functional Medicine Practitioner (IFMCP), Doctor of Naturopathic medicine (ND) and nutritional therapist. I completed my training in the UK and most recently in the US with the institute of functional medicine. I also have post graduate training in functional laboratory analysis, botanical/herbal medicine, Ayurveda, Chinese medicine, yoga therapy and Health & Wellness coaching.

As a result I do not practice conventional medicine and do not diagnose or treat diseases or medical conditions. I focus my practice on promoting health through natural healing and optimizing your own bodies healing abilities. I will alway meet you where ever you are on your health journey and move forward safely from there. My services are not meant to substitute or replace those of a medical doctor but my programs are meant to work in tandem with them. Many medical doctors now also practice functional medicine and in a case where a patient clearly needs medical support I will refer on to a medical doctor.

Do you prescribe medications?

No. I do not prescribe or make recommendations about prescription medications or controlled substances. Your prescribing medical doctor will manage all medications. I use natural, noninvasive methods such as nutritional therapy, herbs, supplements, stress management techniques and lifestyle changes to address the underlying imbalances and causes of disease to promote optimal health and wellbeing.

Do you accept medical insurance?

Insurance may cover some testing and services but not all. Its best to contact your insurer to see what they cover. Functional medicine and nutritional therapy in general is considered to be elective and therefore may not be covered by insurance.

How much does functional medicine cost?

Price depends on several factors, including the how many consultations you may need, what lab testing is required and the natural medicines and therapies needed during your treatment. Please enquire “here" (kristina.carman@tinyfishco.com) to learn more about consultation prices and plans or book yourself a discovery call so we can explain how the process works.

Am I a good candidate for functional medicine?

The best way to determine whether functional medicine is the best route is to schedule an initial free virtual discovery call. This gives me an opportunity to learn more about your goals and needs, and gives you the chance to ask any questions.
